Hollywood duo Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Ray Winstone could both have a role to play in the future of Southend United.
Earlier this week it was reported that Winstone is part of a consortium hoping to buy the Vanarama National League club, who have struggled financially in recent years, with Echosport claiming that talks are at an advanced stage.
They also added that members of the consortium (which includes Simon Jackson, Kristofer Tremains and members of Integral Sports Management) have spoken to Seven Bucks Productions - a company owned by Johnson - about making a fly-on-the-wall documentary if they are successful in their purchase.
If so, the former WWE star, who was also the highest-grossing male actor in the world back in 2020, could be set to partner up with the Shrimpers.
Winstone himself is the co-founder of ISM, who are involved in the deal, but it remains to be seen if he would be a part of the efforts to take Southend
Southend were relegated from the Football League in 2021 for the first time in over 100 years and have so far have found life in the fifth tier, failing to make the play-offs at both attempts.
It's not the first time Hollywood have been involved with a club in non-league. The most famous example is Wrexham, who were bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have both endeared themselves to supporters of the club.
Under their guidance they were able to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup as well as win the National League and have ambitions to take the Red Dragons all the way to the Premier League.
