Earlier today we reported on the news that Darwin Nunez had deleted all posts relating to Liverpool from his Instagram account, sparking speculation about his future at the club.
Despite 18 goals and 13 assists for his side this season, the Uruguayan remains a divisive player amongst Liverpool supporters.
Although the striker's talent is clear, he has been guilty of missing clear-cut chances as the Reds stumble to the finish line.
A run of one win in five matches in April saw Liverpool blow their chances of a Premier League title in Jurgen Klopp's final season, and some fans have placed a large portion of the blame for their poor form at the feet of Nunez.
There is also plenty of speculation around what Liverpool's squad will look like next season as Klopp is replaced by Feyenoord manager Arne Slot in the summer.
Nunez has now fuelled speculation about his own future after removing almost all trace of the Anfield club from his Instagram account, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The only references to Liverpool on his account are his profile picture, which is still him in a Liverpool shirt, and his bio, in which he has tagged both Liverpool FC and the Uruguay national team.
Nunez has also reportedly blocked Liverpool fan pages from his Instagram account.
Some fans have also called out the 24-year-old for being the first player to head down the tunnel after Liverpool beat Tottenham 4-2 at Anfield on Sunday.
Others have suggested the deleting of the posts is because of abuse the striker has received from some people online.
Nunez signed for Liverpool from Benfica for an initial fee of £64 million in June 2022. With add-ons, the fee could reach £85 million.
In his first season at the club, he scored nine goals in 29 Premier League appearances, as Liverpool ended up finishing fifth in a disappointing campaign.
This season, Nunez has been scored 11 goals so far in the league, with two games left to play.
But he's only started one of the last five games for Liverpool and hasn't scored since April 4 against Sheffield United.
Nunez has yet to comment about the deleted Instagram posts or about his future at the club, with his contract at Anfield running until 2028.
