Chelsea appeared to troll Brighton and Hove Albion with their announcement tweet for Marc Cucurella after announcing the signing of the defender. The Blues reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign the Spanish left-back from Brighton for £52.5m earlier this week, however, Brighton were quick to deny such reports. A tweet from the club's Twitter account on Wednesday said: "CLUB STATEMENT: MARC CUCURELLA. The defender submitted in a transfer request after hearing of interest from Premier League champions Manchester City, with the Seagulls placing a £50m price tag on him as a result. City were unable to submit a bit close enough to their demands, which led to Chelsea joining the hunt to sign the 24-year-old. The Blues had already signed three players this summer, with Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Kouliably and Gabriel Slonina all joining the club. As well as this, Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka also agreed on a move to Stamford Bridge. Blues defender Levi Colwell has made the move to Brighton on loan as part of the Cucurella deal.
