Former world title challenger Derek Chisora spilt the tea in an interview with Radio Raheem.
The British heavyweight revealed his dismay at the bout and said he will not be watching on the night.
Chisora said: “I know for a fact they are using 18oz gloves and head guards if I’m not mistaken. I think so. So we’re watching a sparring match. It’s a f****** joke. You think I’m paying to watch that?
"Only kids will pay to watch that. Parents will give their kids money to watch. It's not for me. Mike Tyson has been high as a motherf**cker."
He continued: "Is this what boxing has come to now? So, everyone who has worked hard, young fighters, can't get any recognition for the skills they have. But, everyone can get recognition by playing games on YouTube.
"There used to be a saying 'If it makes no sense, it makes no dollar.' But it makes a dollar now."
The fight announcement has faced a raft of backlash from fans. Tyson was a formidable force at his peak becoming World Heavyweight Champion at 20 years and 145 days old. He is set to face 27-year-old Jake Paul, who knocked out Ryan Bourland on March 2nd.
Last week, an ominous video of Tyson smashing pads surfaced with the veteran saying: "Day three. You still wanna f*** with me?".
The bout is not the only time the legend has dusted down the gloves. In November 2020, Tyson fought fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in Los Angeles. The result was a split draw on that occasion, with Paul fighting and winning on the undercard against Nate Robinson.
Paul holds a boxing record of nine wins and one loss. Tommy Fury defeated Paul by a split decision in February 2023. The YouTuber turned boxer boasts wins over UFC veterans including Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and most recently Nate Diaz.
The bout is set to take place on July 20th and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
