Liverpool were still seen as title favourites when the team faced each other in Premier League Gameweek 3, not only because of their status as champions but also their big summer signings, which are yet to impress this season.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are six points clear at the top with 15 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats in 20 games.
Their only other defeat of the Gunners was against Aston Villa, another top four side, in early December.
The last encounter of the two Premier League giants at Emirates Stadium ended with the points shared, as Mohamed Salah proved the saviour for Liverpool who twice fought back to earn a 2-2 draw.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be hoping for similar heroics from the Arne Slot side once again, after they conceded a very late Chelsea equaliser at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, giving Arsenal a 6-point advantage at the top of the table.
Date: Thursday, January 8 at 20:00 GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium, London
Referee: Anthony Taylor
VAR: John Brooks

Premier League leaders Arsenal host title holders Liverpool at the Emirates on Thursday evening, and another three crucial points in the title race is what will probably be on Mikel Arteta and his team’s mind more than a revenge for their previous match in late August at Anfield, where they lost 1-0 after a jaw-dropping freekick goal by Dominik Szoboszlai.
As Gameweek 21 approaches, Liverpool have suffered 6 defeats and have drawn 4 of their league matches, winning 10 in the process and currently sit 4th in the league table.
In November, the Reds' crisis deepened as they lost more Premier League matches than they did the entirety of last season.
