Arsenal fans accuse Premier League rival of trying to ‘end Martin Ødegaard’s season’

Ødegaard was on the end of a crunching tackle during Spain vs Norway

Ødegaard believed that he should've been awarded a penalty after beating Dani Carvajal to create an opening on goal only to clash into Rodri.

The Arsenal captain appeared to take a hefty knock and could been seen gesticulating towards the referee to ask for a penalty, however his claims were waved away.

But Arsenal fans - who are desperate not to see any of their key players injured ahead of their final push to win the Premier League - were left seething on social media, with some even claiming that Rodri made the challenge deliberately.

"Absolutely disgusting foul from Manchester City’s Rodri on Martin Ødegaard," wrote one fan.

Another said: "Rodri was already one of the most dislikeable players in the prem for me, but this has crossed the line."

After the game Ødegaard also admitted that he felt like he should've been awarded a penalty for the late tackle while also criticising the referee.

"I’m pretty sure I should have had a penalty. He’s coming with his studs right on my ankle. I’m sure I’ll get punished [if I say anymore]," he told TV2 via Metro.

"I don’t bother saying anything else about the referee. It’s better not to say anything."

Spain ran out comfortable winners against Norway, who were without Erling Haaland due to injury, as a Dani Olmo strike and Joselu brace ensured the win for Luis de la Fuente's side.
