Anthony Joshua has opened up on the impact that the death of two of his closest friends has had on him, in a devastating tribute.
The major British boxing star was a passenger in a black SUV, which hit a stationary truck on a major road near Lagos in Nigeria on December 29.
The collision tragically claimed the lives of Latif “Latz” Ayodele, 36, and Sina Ghami, 36.
A chauffeur driving the vehicle subsequently appeared in court in Nigeria on January 20, having been charged with four crimes, which included death by dangerous driving.
Joshua, who remarkably escaped the crash with minor injuries, has spent the start of 2026 mourning his closest mates.
Speaking on a video named "My Brothers Keeper For Life" on his own YouTube channel, Joshua was devastatingly emotional as he went into detail on his close friendships.
“Not only did their parents, their uncles, their cousins, their friends and myself lose like two great men, we lost people that we dearly care about," he said.
“(They were) major players in all of our lives, major, major players in all of our lives, it’s tough, it’s really tough.”
Holding back tears, he then added: “They’re my brothers, they’re my friends first and foremost.”
Joshua then stated that he had been living with Latz, his personal trainer, and Ghami, his recovery therapist.
The three had been in Nigeria to visit family at the back end of 2025.
“We had so many plans to wrap up 2025, and we were on a mission," he added.
"We went back home, went to see our families, and everything just got flipped upside on its head.”
The British boxer also thanked his supporters for the messages of kidness and support that they had sent:
“I could reach out to all of you far and wide, worldwide who are showing so much love, care, support through that tragic, traumatic time where we lost Latz and Sina in Nigeria.”
