The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is set to be knighted in the New Year Honours list, according to reports.
Khan, who has been London mayor since 2016, is expected to receive the honour for his political and public service.
In May this year, Khan became the first London mayor to win a third term when he defeated Susan Hall in the mayoral election.
Khan, who served as the MP for Tooting before becoming mayor, is one of several Labour figures tipped to receive honours in the New Year.
According to the Financial Times, Islington South MP Emily Thornberry is set to receive a damehood along with former health secretary Patricia Hewitt.
Meanwhile, former West Midlands mayor Andy Street could be one of a number of Tory politicians who might receive knighthoods.
A source told the Financial Times that a draft document of honours had not yet received final sign-off from Prime Minister Keir Starmer or King Charles.
According to the publication, the government is set to issue a fresh political list of peerages in the coming weeks, likely coinciding with the annual New Year honours.
The list is set to include Starmer's former chief of staff Sue Gray, who quit Downing Street earlier this year following reports of infighting in Number 10 amid over her salary and government freebies.
Starmer's predecessor as prime minister, Rishi Sunak, is yet to submit his resignation peerages list, but insiders reportedly expect former cabinet ministers Michael Gove, Simon Hart and Alister Jack will be included.
