World record attempt for gathering of Kyles to take place this weekend in city of Kyle

If you're a Kyle, get on a flight to Texas.

To break the record, they need 2,326 Kyles or more.

So, if you've got a mate by the name of Kyle, tell him to pack his bags.

The current title belongs to the town of Kupres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where 2,325 people named Ivan gathered on July 30, 2017.

Last year, Kyles from 49 states gathered in Kyle and totaled 1,490. It's the closest the city has come to breaking the record, but the group still fell short by 836 Kyles.

Here's hoping this is the year they finally achieve it.

This got us thinking about the most famous Kyles in the world, and there aren't as many as you'd think.

On this side of the water, Manchester City and England right-back powerhouse Kyle Walker stands out as the obvious one.

On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, you've got Twin Peaks and Fallout star Kyle McLachlan, as well as Kyle Chandler aka Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights.

The Gathering of the Kyles is part of the city’s Kyle Fair, including a carnival, live music and several competitions for the best margaritas, fajitas and ribs.

The event is free to attend and Kyles of all ages are welcome. Participants must show proof of ID, and parents or guardians may vouch for the participant if they’re underage.

To qualify to be a part of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ attempt, all participants must have the name ‘Kyle’ - spelled that way. Iterations of ‘Kyle’ such as Kyler, Kiel, or Kylee, are not accepted. Middle and last names will not be accepted. 

The Gathering of the Kyles will launch its official Guinness World Record count at the Kyle Arena at 1 p.m. on Saturday. All Kyles must check in and register by 12:30 p.m. to be included in the official count.
