A woman was rescued earlier this month after being trapped upside down between boulders for seven hours.
Matilda Campbell had been trying to retrieve her phone from a crevice between two large boulders when she slipped and fell.
The 23-year-old had been walking with friends on a private property in Laguna, in New South Wales, Australia, when the incident happened.
Campbell was trapped upside down, and after spending an hour trying to free her, her friends eventually called emergency services.
In a post on social media, New South Wales Ambulance explained that a wooden frame had to be built to create stability, whilst rescuers used a specialised winch to move one of the boulders, which weighed around 500kg.
It wasn't as simple as then just pulling her out though. Once her feet were accessible, rescuers had to carefully navigate her body through a "tight S bend," which took an hour.
NSW Ambulance Specialist Rescue Paramedic, Peter Watts, said: “In my 10 years as a rescue paramedic I had never encountered a job quite like this, it was challenging but incredibly rewarding.
“Every agency had a role, and we all worked incredibly well together to achieve a good outcome for the patient."
Remarkably, Campbell managed to escape the ordeal with only minor scratches and bruises. Unfortunately for her though, the phone was unable to be retrieved.
Images from the rescue were shared on Instagram by NSW Ambulance. Commenting on the post, Campbell said: "Thank you to the team who saved me you guys are literally life savers…too bad about the phone tho."
