This poor bloke probably regrets getting into a Twitter fight with a Wetherspoons parody account

No one likes being made to look like a fool.

But it's even worse when you're made to look like a fool in front of thousands of people on Twitter – by a parody Wetherspoon's account – about not being able to access 18+ websites in their pubs. Twitter user @loudhawhaw found himself in a bit of a pickle in Spoons' Skipton establishment, when he found himself unable to use their WiFi – and rather than ask the staff in the pub itself he decided to tweet about it instead. https://twitter.com/loudhawhaw/status/798495922003046400

He was probably expecting a helpful reply from someone on their customer service team, so we imagine he was pretty shocked when instead, he received this:

This is where a quick glance at @WetherspoonsUK's Twitter bio might have de-escalated the situation before it'd even really started.

See, @loudhawhaw had made the classic mistake of tweeting at a fake account instead of the real @jdwtweet.

There was no chance of a backtrack now – once you get into an argument with a pretend pub chain on Twitter, you have to carry it out until the bitter end.

Unsurprisingly, "Mr. Hawhaw" was not at all pleased about being accused of trying to access 18+ websites in the middle of a busy pub.

He was all ready to get the lawyers involved, before the account revealed itself to be a parody. We have to be honest, we definitely feel a bit sorry for @loudhawhaw here – it's not like he's the first person to ever make a fuck up on the internet, is it?
