A couple from Wales has won £1m on the National Lottery, defying the odds by winning for a second time in only a few years.
In June 2018, Richard Davies, 49, and his wife Faye Stevenson-Davies, 43, won £1,000,000 playing the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker.
And they have only gone and done it again.
On 26 November, they matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the Lotto Draw, beating extraordinary odds according to experts.
They say that the chances of this happening are more than 24-trillion-to-one.
Faye Stevenson-Davies said that “we knew the odds of it happening again were outrageous, but we're proof that if you believe anything is possible.”
And this second win was not a case of just choosing the right numbers, according to her husband, Richard.
“It came to us through a series of four consecutive Lotto draws. When you match two numbers in the Lotto draw, you automatically win a Lucky Dip for the next game and that's what's happened to us”, he says.
“We matched two numbers and won a free Lucky Dip from one draw which put us into the next draw and so on, until the winning draw on 26 November.”
The couple is very community-minded and is known for generosity and being helpful to others.
Richard, a former hairdresser, helps out his friends by working as a delivery driver while in Cardiff he also has a shelter for the homeless, a project which received vital National Lottery funding.
His wife Faye is a former nurse and serves as a volunteer cook while she also provides mental health counselling services.
And now they say they will just savour this moment.
“We're just going to take our time and enjoy the moment”, they said.
“The first time we won we gifted people cars, donated a minibus to the local rugby team and did our best to help friends and family”, said Faye, who will even be working on Christmas Day.
