Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is tipped for an exciting return to football after leaving Plymouth Argyle.
The 39-year-old parted ways with the Championship side last month after they slumped to the bottom of the table, four points from safety.
It came less than a year after he was dismissed by Birmingham City last January. As his future in management is called into question, Rooney is jetting off to Dubai as a new ambassador for Football Escapes, where he will take charge of a kid’s training camp.
However, once he returns, United's record goalscorer is reportedly being lined up for a job as a pundit.
The Sun reports that Rooney is in negotiations to start work on Match of the Day.
The BBC show will be getting a whole new look and feel to it next season as host Gary Lineker is set to depart while Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates have been announced as the new hosts.
It appears that Rooney will now also become a regular guest analyst on the Saturday night highlights show.
Reports suggest his potential wage could be around £200,000 a year but a source close to the former striker said he is still weighing up his options.
They said: "Punditry is one of a number of options open to Wayne for the future. He worked alongside Gary and co at the Euros last summer, and was a huge hit with viewers. He’s also eminently likeable with a forensic knowledge and love of the game.
"Match of the Day and a couple of other broadcasters are interested in having him on their programming. Wayne and the BBC are in early stage negotiations but it is looking promising and he is taking some time to work out exactly what he wants to do next."
While he was boss at Derby, he appeared on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports alongside David Jones and Jamie Carragher, which he received high praise for.
