Two bodies found in search for missing sisters

The pair were last seen on January 7

Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, 32, were last seen near the River Dee on January 7.

A body was found near Queen Elizabeth Bridge at approximately 07.55 on Friday before the second body was found near to the Victoria Bridge at around 21.05 on Friday.

Police Scotland said the Huszti family had been informed and inquiries are ongoing though there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

Supt David Howieson said: "Our thoughts remain with the Huszti family and we are keeping them fully updated following these recoveries.

"We know how much of an impact this has had in Aberdeen and much further afield and I would like to thank everyone who has assisted with our investigation."

The disappearance of the pair, part of a set of triplets, originally from Hungary, sparked a major search operation earlier this month.

The women were last seen on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge over the River Dee at about 02:12 on 7 January.

Earlier this week, Police Scotland said searches of the river and the harbour area had ended but confirmed that the force would continue to search coastal areas north and south of the city.

Detectives also revealed that the pair visited the Victoria Bridge the day before they disappeared.

They also texted their landlady from the bridge area in the early hours of 7 January to say they would not return to their flat.

The pair, who moved to Scotland 10 years ago, had not told relatives they planned to move out of their rented Aberdeen flat.

The Victoria Bridge and Queen Elizabeth Bridge are about half a mile apart on the River Dee.
