Tory donors asked to cover cost of Boris Johnson’s nanny

Conservative Party donors were apparently approached to cover the cost of Boris Johnson's nanny and personal trainer, as more questions swirl around the Prime Minister's financial arrangements. Donors to the party were asked to pay for childcare for the Prime Minister's son, Wilfred. According to the Sunday Times, per the Independent, an unidentified Tory MP received a complaint from a supporter who had been asked to pay for Wilfred's childcare. The donor told the MP: "I don’t mind paying for leaflets but I resent being asked to pay to literally wipe the prime minister’s baby’s bottom." Meanwhile party staff have been given a week to hand over all communication related to Johnson's flat refurbishment, as controversy continues over the initial source of funding for the work. The PM has repeatedly said that he paid for anything spent beyond the annual £30,00o maintenance fund for residents of Downing Street. However Number 10 has not denied claims that Johnson took out a personal loan to repay the Tory party for the renovations. Any such loan would have had to be declared to avoid conflicts of interest. Four separate inquiries are currently underway into the how the work on the flat was funded and whether the Prime Minister broke ministerial rules. On Sunday morning, the leader of the Scottish Conservatives said that Johnson should resign if he is found to have broken the ministerial code. Conservative Party staff have been given one week to hand over all communications relating to the renovations and have been warned that they will face criminal consequences if they do not comply. The claims surrounding donors covering the cost of Johnson's nanny have also been made in the Mail on Sunday. The paper reports that Tory donors were also asked to cover the cost of a personal trainer for the PM. Number 10 has not denied that donors were approached, but has insisted that Johnson "personally paid" for both members of staff.
