The BBC previously denied receiving complaints

The BBC has revealed that it recieved six sexual misconduct complaints about former DJ Tim Westwood, having previously denied receiving any. BBC director Tim Davie had previously said that he saw "no evidence of complaints" after BBC News and the Guardian revealed stories of predatory behaviour. Westwood also denied the allegations. A BBC spokesman said in a statement: "This is a historic case that the BBC has found in its files. We are establishing the facts around it. "It did not relate to conduct at the BBC, BBC premises, or conduct towards a BBC staff member, nor was it an accusation of physical assault." They did not reveal whether the complaints were received after Davie's April statement. The complaints were uncovered after BBC News challenged the company's Freedom of Information Request (FOI) alongside the Guardian as part of an ongoing investigation. Their piece included testimony from seven Black women who alleged unwanted sexual touching between 1992 and 2017. At the time, a spokesperson for Westwood said: "Our client confirms that there has never been any complaint made against him, whether officially or unofficially, relating to claims of inappropriate behaviour of the nature described. "No complaint has ever been made to the police, and nobody has ever raised these matters, or any colourably similar, with him directly or with his representatives. "There has been no investigation in relation to him of any nature whatsoever, whether by the police, his employer or indeed any other authority."
