Texas shooting: First victims identified as death toll rises to 21

The two teachers killed in the attack have also been identified

The first victims have been named after a mass shooting at a Texas elementary school which has left at least 19 students and two adults dead. On Tuesday, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde with a handgun and possibly a rifle, Sky News reports. Ramos opened fire and killed 19 children and two teachers, before he was killed by police. He is also suspected of shooting his grandmother before the rampage. Several of the pupils have now been identified as the first child victims of the massacre, along with both of the teachers killed. Fourth grade student Xavier Lopez, 10, was identified by his family as one of the victims. His mother had attended his awards ceremony just hours before the shooting. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for his funeral. They told NBC 5 that he was due to turn 10 this summer. Amerie jo Garza, 10, was also killed in the shooting. Her father told ABC News that she had only celebrated her birthday two weeks ago. In a statement he said: "Thank you everyone for the prayers and help trying to find my baby." "She's been found. My little love is now flying high with the angels above. Please don't take a second for granted. "Hug your family. Tell them you love them. I love you Amerie jo. Watch over your baby brother for me." Makenna Lee Elrod, 10, has been identified as one of the victims. Her parents had feared she may not have survived, and a family friend confirmed on Tuesday night that she was among the dead.
