According to Texas' penal code, it is against the law to own more than six "obscene devices".

Part of Section 43.23 states: "A person who possesses six or more obscene devices or identical or similar obscene articles is presumed to possess them with intent to promote the same."
Sex toys are now allowed in the state, but it was only in 2007 that Texas Senator Ted Cruz backed a statute to ban them.

A part of the federal case's brief said: "There is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one's genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship."

The attack this week was the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school since a gunman killed 26 people, including 20 first-graders, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
Texas has experienced 244 mass shootings (those with four or more victims) since 2014.
