Tesco has warned customers to spend their Clubcard vouchers before they expire at the end of the month.
More than 20 million people in the UK have a Tesco Clubcard, allowing them to receive discounted prices on a number of items in store and earn points on their shopping at the supermarket.
Clubcard vouchers are then issued to customers in February, May, August and November each year, which can be used in-store.
But it turns out plenty of people are happily racking up points without ever actually spending them. This has prompted Tesco to urge its customers to spend £16m worth of Clubcard vouchers before they expire at the end of November, the Independent reports.
The vouchers, which were first issued in November 2021, will expire on November 20, 2023, and could instead be used to help with family budgets at one of the most expensive times of year.
Emma Botton, Tesco Group Customer Director, said: “We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco.
“With more than £16m worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of November, we’re reminding customers to spend them now – or even use them to get ahead with some early Christmas shopping.”
You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco.
Customers can use their Clubcard vouchers on their weekly shop on petrol at a Tesco forecourt. Alternatively, if you don't want to spend your vouchers at Tesco, you can use your points with one of Tesco's Rewards Partners, such as Pizza Express, Spa Seekers and Brewdog.
