'This is what we are doing now? Making fun of people who lost their lives'

A Subway restaurant is being slammed for making a joke about the Titan submarine tragedy that claimed five lives just weeks ago.

Everyone onboard OceanGate's submersible died after it suffered a "catastrophic implosion" while diving to see the wreckage of the Titanic.

A Subway in the US has made light of the tragedy in an attempt to get people to eat its sandwiches.

A sign outside the Rincon Subway restaurant in Georgia reads: “Our subs don’t implode.”

People are not happy.

Under a Reddit post that read ‘Is it tasteless? Well yeah, it is Subway’, loads of people have been sharing their outrage, though many debated if the 'joke' was more tasteless than the products the chain offers.

One person tweeted: “This is at your store in Rincon, GA. “Not only is it distasteful, it’s just sad. Do better.”

Another person wrote: “This is what we are doing now? Making fun of people who lost their lives.”

According to local media reports, a store manager has said the sign has since been removed.

A Subway representative has been quoted as saying: "We have been in contact with the franchise about this matter and made it clear that this kind of comment has no place in our business," a Subway representative said.
