Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop is conscious and in recovery after he collapsed live on air during coverage of Real Madrid's friendly against AC Milan on Sunday.
Hislop was working for ESPN as part of their live coverage in California but fell unconscious after stumbling and falling to the ground during a pre-match interview before the game.
Dan Thomas, who was working alongside Hislop, immediately called for assistance before the channel cut to a commercial break.
In an update to viewers at half-time, Thomas confirmed that Hislop was responding well and was conscious.
He said: "My mate, Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it's good news.
"He's conscious. He's talking. I think he's a little embarrassed about it all. He's apologised profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him.
"Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is that Shaka's conscious and we spoke to his family as well, because you imagine seeing that happen live."
The former Trinidad and Tobago international played 121 games for West Ham in two spells from 1998 to 2002 and 2005 to 2006 and also had spells at Reading, Portsmouth and Newcastle United.
