Russia has weighed in on President Donald Trump's decision to stop all military aid to Ukraine.
The US Government revealed yesterday, March 3, that they would be pausing all military aid to Ukraine.
This comes just days after a particularly tense meeting between the two Presidents.
The US has been a huge supporter of Ukraine since Russia's invasion in 2022, with the Biden administration providing Kyiv with aid of worth over $66.5 billion (£52.3 billion).
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the move the 'best contribution to the cause of peace'.
"If this is true, then this is a decision that can really encourage the Kyiv regime to (come to) the peace process," said Peskov (via Reuters).
He continued: "It is obvious that the United States has been the main supplier of this war so far. If the United States stops being (an arms supplier) or suspends these supplies, it will probably be the best contribution to the cause of peace."
The Kremlin spokesperson previously stated that the Trump administration's shift in foreign policy coincided with their 'vision'.
Additionally, Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov called the US leader's approach to Ukraine 'common sense'.
Multiple European leaders have reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, with UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer chairing a summit with various NATO leaders following Zelenskyy and Trump's icy meeting.
