Candidates do need some painting and decorating experience to be considered and will join a small team in charge of making Buckingham Palace look in tip-top shape. To do this, you'll carry out inspections and identify rooms in need of attention before making sure they are expertly renewed - working on signwriting and specialist wall coverings, as well as using specialist paint finishes such as marbling and gliding. The newly advertised job is thought to be part of the £369 million taxpayer-funded renovation of the palace.
Over 150,000 people have signed a petition calling for the royals to pay for it themselves.The entire renovation is due to be completed in 2027. Applicants for the painting and decorating job will want to move fast, as it closes on 3 April.
