Princess Beatrice slices Ed Sheeran's face with a sword as she 'knights' James Blunt

There we were, thinking that 2016 had thrown everything it possibly could at us in terms of weird news, then comes that. As much as it sounds like it's completely made up, it appears that's not the case. According to a report in the Sun on Sunday, Ed Sheeran was rushed to hospital after Princess Beatrice inadvertently sliced his face with a sword in a mock-knighting of James Blunt. The report claims that Blunt is said to have jokingly asked the Princess to make him Sir James during a party at the Royal Lodge in Windsor. Picking up a sword, she was more than happy to grant his request. Having swung the sword backwards, she is then said to have accidentally caught Sheeran, who was standing behind her at the time, on the cheek. As a result, the singer was taken to hospital for treatment. “The blade cut into his face and it was just a few inches from his right eye,” a source told the paper. “A couple of the guests said it could have been worse and he could have been blinded in the eye, but Ed really played it down.” “Everyone was totally shocked and apparently Beatrice was very upset. But Ed was the perfect gentleman and told her it was just an accident.” According to the source, Sheeran had stitches and returned to the party after the incident.
