A popular bar in Stockport has issued a warning to customers after making a discovery in the venue’s bathroom.
This Godless Place on Bridge Street opened two years ago in the former Union Bank of Manchester building, utilising the old vaults and historic brick walls to create a unique atmosphere.
The bar, run by Martin Healy who also manages The Good Rebel, issued some words of advice on their social media page after an incident in their bathroom which cost them hundreds of pounds to fix.
The lengthy post read: “If you ever go to a bar or a restaurant or a pub and you need the toilet we have some sage words of advice for you. 1.) Don’t bring your drink with you to the toilet, leave it with your friends or, if you have no friends, with the bar staff, they will gladly keep it safe for your companionless soul behind the bar.
“2.) If you decide to ignore point 1, don’t drop your drink and smash it into the toilet bowl.
“3.) If you ignore points 1 and 2, don’t try and be clever and flush said broken shards of glass down the toilet. Please just let a member of staff know so we can pick it out of your puddle of ****. 4.) Always was your hands after using the toilet.”
They went on to explain they had suffered weeks of problems which had cost them hundreds of pounds after plumbers failed to identify the cause of the issues.
They said: “Well, today we have finally gotten to the said ‘bottom of it’. This little stem of a coupe glass, which has been smashed and flushed down the toilet, got caught just before the exit pipe to the sewer.”
The post was accompanied by a photo of the broken glass.
Customers shared the staff’s fury with one customer commenting that the act was ‘moronic’ while another said: "Words fail me."
