Partygate: Legal action launched over Police’s ‘failure to adequately investigate’ Boris Johnson

The Good Law Project has launched legal action over the Metropolitan police's alleged failure to “adequately investigate” the lockdown-busting parties held in Downing Street. Led by veteran government-challenger Jolyon Maugham, the group will represent Lord Paddick, who is a former deputy assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and is now a Liberal Democrat peer in the House of Lords. It comes after photographs leaked by ITV News show the Prime Minister laughing and drinking on the Downing Street estate during lockdown, at an event understood to have been arranged as a leaving party for former Director of Communications Lee Cain. Credit: ITV News[/caption] On Wednesday morning, the Cabinet Office confirmed Downing Street had received a copy of the long-awaited Sue Gray report into the events that transpired over the course of Partygate.
