Netflix are known for unceremoniously cancelling some of their more popular shows to save costs, to fans' dismay.
But they also have good form for saving shows from the brink of oblivion and giving them a new lease of life.
Some of Netflix's most popular shows were acquired this way, perhaps most famously is Money Heist, which was a show doomed for cancellation after two seasons on Spanish TV.
The streaming giant took the series and turned it into a worldwide phenomenon.
But there's another success story like this - Netflix's Manifest.
The series follows a set of passengers and crew from a flight which disappeared, only to return 5 years later.
The official synopsis reads: "When a commercial airliner suddenly reappears after being missing for five years, those aboard must reintegrate into society."
Manifest was originally an NBC production, debuting in 2018.
The series was cancelled after three years, and a proposed fourth series was shelved.
But in August 2021, mere months after the series was cancelled by NBC, Netflix acquired the show and announced the fourth series would be made.
And it looks like the gamble paid off. Manifest has been a huge success, and has reportedly become one of the platform's most-watched series.
According to Variety, the opening episodes of season four had 57.1 million hours viewed within the first three days.
The show's newer season also has an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics saying season 4 will satisfy long-time fans of the show, even if they are left heartbroken.
