North Korean soldiers deployed to Russia are reportedly 'gorging on porn' after being granted unfettered access to the internet for the first time.
One of the major developments in the war between Russia and Ukraine of recent has been the actioning of North Korean troops joining their Russian allies on the front lines of battle in Eastern Europe.
What started as rumours and accusations from South Korea soon was confirmed with the first North Korean soldiers engaging in battle with Ukraine for the first time on Monday.
However, it would appear these soldiers have become hardened personnel in a matter of days, but not in the way most would expect.
According to a report from Financial Times journalist, Gideon Rachman, soldiers of the hermit nation have arrived in Russia to unrestricted access of the internet which they have used for only one purpose, watching pornography.
In an X post that has been viewed 33 million times, Rachman said: "A usually reliable source tells me that the North Korean soldiers who have deployed to Russia have never had unfettered access to the internet before. As a result, they are gorging on pornography."
This claim was not expanded upon and no extra information provided on how the journalist would have the inside rub on the search history of 10,000 North Korean soldiers.
Speaking to American military outlet, Task and Purpose, US Defense Department spokesperson Army Lt. Col. Charlie Dietz said: “As entertaining as that sounds, I can’t confirm any North Korean internet habits or virtual ‘extracurriculars’ in Russia.”
He added: "We’re focused on the more serious aspects of North Korea’s involvement, if any, in Russia’s military operations. As for internet access, that’s a question best directed to Moscow. Right now, our attention remains on supporting Ukraine and addressing the more significant regional security concerns.”
