A new 'The Office' series set in the same universe as the hit mockumentary is moving forward with development.
Earlier this year, reports emerged that Greg Daniels, who adapted the show for US audiences based on the BBC series of the same name, was exploring a spin-off series.
This would involve a new 'office' with new characters, but would be within the same universe as the Steve Carrell-led mockumentary series.
Now, Deadline has reported that work on the new series is moving forward and still in development.
The outlet said Daniels is continuing to work with a group of writers, including Nathan For You co-creator Michael Konan, who would serve as the project's co-creator.
Any new series would not be a reboot of the original NBC show, which followed employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Daniels has previously indicated that an Office spinoff would follow a crew doing a documentary about a different subject.
NBC's The Office first aired in 2005 as an adapted version of the BBC series of the same name, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.
After the first season received initially-mixed reception, the show went on to become one of the most popular comedy shows of all time.
With an ensemble cast including Carrell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling to name but a few, The Office ran for nine seasons before it came to an end in 2013.
The series and its stars won numerous awards and is considered by many to be one of - if not the - greatest sitcom of all time.
With a spinoff series set to take place in the same universe as the original, there is presumably the possibility that some of our Scranton favourites could make an appearance.
However, a full-scale reunion is out of the question, according to Deadline.
