The richest man in the world is now wagering parts of his wealth for fun

Elon Musk has teased that he would sell part of his Tesla stock right now if the WFP (World Food Programme) can prove that $6 billion that could end world hunger. Responding to a tweet from researcher and lecturer Dr. Eli David, who was sharing a CNN article that suggested just two per cent of Musk's wealth could end food poverty, the SpaceX founder seemed to take umbrage with the assessment that his enormous sums of money could somehow solve world hunger. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1454808104256737289?s=20 As you can see in the tweet, the comment itself was pulled from a UN official, David Beasley - the full quote being that, like many, he believes a small group of ultra-wealthy individuals could help end world hunger with just a fraction of their net worth. Beasley is the director of the United Nations' WFP and called on the billionaire class to "step up now, on a one-time basis", citing Musk and the second-richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos. Musk recently surpassed the Amazon founder's wealth and became "the richest person to ever walk the planet", as his personal net worth now sits at $225.2bn - more than $30bn richer than the former number one. Prompting a Twitter thread, the 50-year-old also went on to add a sort 'show your workings' caveat, stating that proof of how the WFP would fund a project to end starvation "must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent."
