A post-mortem examination commenced on Friday, 18 May, at Queens Hospital Mortuary.
A crime scene remains in place at the scene. No arrests have been made.
A murder investigation has been launched by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command led by Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Packer.
DCI Packer said: "I know there were people out and about in Crows Road at the time of the murder. I need to speak with these people as soon as possible as they may have vital evidence.
"Officers have already starting making extensive local enquiries, and they will be working in the area with colleagues from Abbey ward, Barking over the coming days. I urge anyone who may have information to speak with police."
