A mum pulled her son out of nursery after getting "food shamed" by teachers who branded her kid's lunch "unhealthy".
Posting on TikTok, the mum who goes by @peavymegan, told how she sent her 3-year-old off to his nursery school with a mixture of snacks, noting that it has asked parents to provide healthy snacks.
In the video, which has clocked up almost 900,000 views, Megan said she packed things like a "granola bar, yoghurt [and] fruit" for her son, but also added a cup of Pringles.
She doesn't consider the chip to be "unhealthy", but the nursery does.
Staff there sent him home with a note on his Pringles cup, reading:"Please help us make healthy choices at school."
Megan, who is from the US, says in the video: "They wrote that on his Pringles cup, they snack shamed my 3-year-old, they snack shamed me, by writing that passive-aggressively on his trash."
Megan then asked those viewing the post, "what would do" before explaining that she had messaged the school and that she told them at her home "we don't label things as healthy or unhealthy because that starts eating disorders"
She asked, "do you think that's ridiculous because I f****** do"
Megan told the nursery director she was "disappointed" with how the situation had been handled.
The nursery, however, took issue with the way she had responded, suggesting she was being "passive-aggressive" by continuing to send her kid to school with crisps.
Megan said she does not consider Pringles unhealthy.
Pringles are not considered a healthy snack as they are "loaded with artificial flavours, large amounts of sodium, and other synthetic additives that pose a variety of health hazards".
Megan went on to say the nursery never apologised and she was told it "no longer [had] a part-time spot' for her son during the school's summer program".
The mum then decided to remove her son from the nursery altogether.
"It just felt so uncalled for and disrespectful," she said.
"I walked downstairs, and I checked my son out, and that's that. We're done there."
Commenters largely backed the mum, with one writing: "I’d tell them maybe they need to provide the snacks if they know what he needs."
Another wrote: "Ohhhhh he’d be going with a FULL can on the next day with “no thank you” written on the side in bigggg bold letters!"
