The actor, who was best known for his work in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923 as Pete Plenty Clouds, was reported missing days before his body was found.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office said they discovered his body in a wooded area 43 miles southwest of Kansas City on Friday morning, after being alerted to an unoccupied vehicle nearby.
The Sheriff's Office added that Crime Scene Investigators and the Medical Examiner were at the scene, and further investigations were ongoing.
Brings Plenty had been a suspect in a domestic violence case after police were called to a flat in Lawrence on 31 March to a woman screaming. Brings Plenty had driven away from the scene before officers arrived.
Per Sky News, the actor was charged with aggravated burglary, domestic battery and criminal restraint. A warrant for his arrest had been issued.
The 27-year-old's uncle, Mo Brings Plenty, was also a star in the Yellowstone universe, and made calls for help in finding his nephew.
Fellow co-star Cole Hauser used his social media to appeal for help.
“My good friend [Mo Brings Plenty’s] nephew is missing,” he wrote on Instagram. “He was last seen on Easter evening in Kansas City. If you have any information on his whereabouts please contact the below or your local police.”
