The 31-year-old had not been seen since November 8th.

Hannah Kobayashi has told her family she doesn't want to return home to Hawaii, after she was found safe in Mexico earlier this week.

The 31-year-old made contact with relatives on Wednesday to tell them that she was fine after disappearing from Los Angeles International Airport in early November.

Kobayashi was initially reported missing on November 11 after she failed to board her connecting flight from Los Angeles to New York.

After weeks of searching and appeals for information, the Los Angeles Police Department revealed on Monday that the 30-year-old had 'knowingly' crossed the border into Mexico on November 12.

A GoFundMe was set up by the family with the mission to "bring Hannah home". That fundraiser has amassed over $44k in donations since it was first established.

An update posted to the page on 12 December states: "We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah has been found safe. This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us.

"We are turning donations off, and any donor who would like a refund can submit a claim by December 18th, and it will be honored."

The search for Hannah proved too difficult for some members of the family. Hannah's father Ryan took his own life after looking for her for 13 days. He was found dead on November 25 after he jumped from a parking garage in Los Angeles.

Her sister Sydni has now broken her silence on Hannah being found, releasing a statement that she hoped would clear up any confusion.

She wrote on Facebook: "It has been one month since our family was thrust into the spotlight, and the pain inflicted upon us was laid bare for the entire world to see.
