Missing Brit, Simon Robinson has contacted his sister to let her know he is safe following an intense two-week search in Thailand.
The 27-year-old travelled to Thailand on July 22 but was reported missing after failing to return from the solo trip a week ago.
He had informed his girlfriend he was fine on July 26 but had not been heard from since.
His sister, Sarah Robinson-Dale has now revealed she has spoken to her brother who reportedly missed a connecting flight home.
Speaking to The Sun she said: “Simon rang me and apologised. He's okay thank God. He didn't say [where he was]. I'm just so happy he is okay. I didn't ask if he was coming back. I was just so relieved to hear his voice.”
Robinson was supposed to catch a flight home to the UK from Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok last week but failed to board the plane which raised alarm bells.
His phone was detected in the Thai capital before it was switched off and no attempts had been made to contact friends or family up until now.
His loved ones sought help from the British Embassy in Bangkok before turning to social media for help in finding the man from Lincolnshire after they felt the authorities were not providing enough help in locating the missing man.
His friend, Sam Champ, said his family were especially worried after Robinson turned 27 on August 1 without contacting anyone.
Champ posted a picture online and made an appeal after his sister said she ‘going out of my mind with worry’.
Champ wrote: “One of my dear friends has gone missing in Bangkok, he hasn’t been heard from since the 26th July. He was supposed to board a flight that day and he didn’t show up.
“It was his 27th birthday yesterday and everyone is growing very concerned. He has been reported as a missing person.”
A major development occurred when a social media user claiming to be a Thai immigration officer informed Robinson’s family that he had boarded a Finnair flight from Bangkok to Helsinki.
He was then supposed to get a connecting flight from Helsinki to Manchester which he missed.
