Meghan Markle has reportedly removed herself from the royal family drama.
Royal reporter Omid Scobie told People that the Duchess of Sussex was "moving on" from the royal family, but that her husband Prince Harry "still has unfinished business."
Scobie, who has written a new book about the royals, said: “Quite early on in the [book-writing] process, some of those Meghan sources that I really leant on in the earlier years this time were like: ‘You know what? She doesn’t want anything to do with it.
“For Harry it’s different. He still has unfinished business when it comes to his battles with the press.
“His challenge will be to find something that balances that out so we can see him working in a space that isn’t connected to the ties that bind from the past.”
The Endgame author said that neither Harry nor Meghan have cut off all communication with their family, with King Charles still kept in the loop.
Scobie suggested that the Duke of Sussex has a "reluctant acceptance that this is just who his father is" and he would "rather have that in his life than to cut it off completely."
He also revealed he was "surprised to learn" that Meghan has "some sort of correspondence with Charles" as well.
She reportedly sends the monarch "photos of the children", arguing that there "is a willingness there" from the duchess to maintain a relationship.
Harry attended his father's coronation in May this year, but was not invited onto the palace balcony with the rest of his family. Meghan was not in attendance at all, choosing to stay at home in the US with their couple's children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.
Scobie added that those in the royal sphere have little care for what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have to say, and consider them as "just irritating noise."
“The feelings of this man are not worth anything anymore. That’s sort of typical of any big corporation. I know it’s different because they’re family. But as we’ve known for a long time, the meaning of family is very different to them,” he told People.
