Manchester United had been all set to follow their Premier League rivals Arsenal, Spurs, and Man City by hosting cameras in a behind the scenes documentary, before the club pulled the plug on the show.
According to The Athletic, United were in “secret talks” over a whopping £10 million deal with the Jeff Bezos-owned media giants.
The price would have made Manchester United's “All or Nothing” series the most expensive edition of its kind in Premier League history.
Negotiations had reportedly been ongoing for several months before concerns from The Red Devils’ first-team manager Ruben Amorim ultimately led top brass at the club to end talks with Amazon.
Amorim is said to have been against the series over fears it would distract from the club’s upcoming Premier League season, which is likely to be one of the most important in years.
The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from their worst Premier League campaign in history, after finishing in 15th last season.
They lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in May. Victory would have guaranteed Champions League qualification and access to football's most lucrative market.
The club would have needed approval from first-team players for Amazon to get almost unlimited access for the series, including within changing rooms and training facilities.
This would have been unlikely to achieve without Amorim’s support.
When INEOS owner Jim Ratcliffe bought a minority stake in Man United in 2024, he revealed the club were in serious financial trouble, before making 450 members of staff redundant in March.
After the club failed to qualify for European football last season and lost out on at least an extra £100 million of TV revenue, the club have had to look elsewhere for extra avenues of income.
