A man has been shot dead after trying to break into Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
US Secret Service agents say a man was seen near the north gate of the residence with what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.
The incident occurred at 01:30 ET (06:30 GMT).
The Secret Service says they confronted the man, who was white and in his 20s, alongside a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office, and shots were fired during the incident.
Officials said they ordered the man to drop his weapons, but he then raised the gun into a firing position.
It was at this point Secret Service agents fired weapons to "neutralise the threat".
