A major UK firm has blamed delivery delays in a UK city on the sudden collapse of a partner courier firm.
Pedal and Post, partner of Evri, is “ceasing trading without notice”, it has announced.
The service was used by Evri to deliver in Oxford’s Clean Air Zone, and the residents in the city are now facing delays and disruption.
A resident of Grandpont, Oxford, reported how several parcels that were ordered late last month had not been delivered.
Carol Leonard said that the parcels contained special food for her cat as well as litter, and that they remained sitting at the depot, even though they were sent out for delivery.
Eventually they were delivered on February 10, two weeks after she placed her orders.
“We successfully deliver more than 900 million parcels each year, with industry-leading on-time delivery rates” an Evri spokesperson said.
“We were disappointed to learn that our e-cargo bike delivery partner in Oxford ceased trading without notice, which caused some temporary disruption for a small number of customers in the local area”, they added.
“We have quickly re-organised deliveries in the area, and our local team are working hard to resume normal service.”
Pedal and Post said that the decision comes after the loss of a major client earlier this year, as it has closed both its Oxford and London sites.
“Trying to be an ethical employer in a primarily self-employed industry is difficult”, CEO Christopher Benton told Zag Daily, as he confirmed that the company’s entire workforce of around 60 has been made redundant.
