A legendary high street shop is set to return 13 years after all its stores were shut down.
Electrical giant, Comet, will be re-launched online.
Online marketplace OnBuy.com bought the chain, with their founder, Cas Paton, revealing they plan to pump more than £10 million into the re-launch, as well as bringing back its original branding.
Founded in Hull in 1933, Comet began by selling batteries and radios.
They had 236-stores before shutting them down in 2012, resulting in 7,000 job losses.
The online store is expected to be up and running in time for Christmas.
Paton said he is 'thrilled' about the stores re-launch.
"Growing-up, I went to Comet to get what I needed. It was a brand that was close to me personally. We want to bring Comet back to the UK consumer. It’s a household name that we estimate is recognised by 70% of UK adults," he added.
Despite the store facing major market rivals, the founder is confident that they can beat them on price.
"Consumers will have more choice and more competitive prices,” he insisted.
“We will be ultra competitive and undercut Currys and Amazon.”
Furthermore, the relaunch is set to create 50 new jobs.
