Lee Carsley has emerged as the new favourite to take over the reigns as England manager on an interim basis.
Fixtures against Finland and the Republic of Ireland are only a month away and the Three Lions need a new boss for these matches.
Currently the England Under-21 coach, Carsley is among contenders to potentially succeed Gareth Southgate on a permanent basis too.
Due to already having a role within the Football Association, Carsley is in a great position to take over in the meantime, whilst a full-time boss is recruited.
The FA have yet to comment on the identity of a potential permanent or temporary manager, with only a statement to be publicised when a final decision has been made.
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe was firstly linked with succeeding Southgate, however other candidates have also been linked.
Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel are currently without clubs and thereby this would avoid lengthy negotiations.
However, through utilising an interim manager, the recruitment process can continue in no rush.
