King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation actor Jonathan Joss has died aged 59 by a neighbour in Texas.
TMZ reported that the actor was shot by a neighbour after getting into a heated argument.
Joss is famous as the voice of John Redcorn in the animated sitcom King of the Hill as well as Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation.
He also appeared in smaller roles in Tulsa King, Ray Donovan and films such as True Grit and The Magnificent Seven.
San Antonio Police Department reported that eyewitnesses had said Joss had become embroiled in a heated argument with his neighbour.
Police say the neighbour then produced a gun and shot Joss several times before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting in progress.
The suspect was captured just a block away from the scene and is now being held in custody.
Paramedics attended the scene, but Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.
As reported by Sky News, the actor's husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, claimed the perpetrator had shouted "violent homophobic slurs" before firing his gun, and that Joss had pushed him out the way to save his life.
Kern de Gonzales alleged on Facebook: "He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other."
He equally claimed that the couple had previously struggled with harassment from neighbours, much of it "openly homophobic".
Kern de Gonzales said that while checking for mail at their previous house which had burned down killing three of their dogs, they found a skull of one of the animals on the front of the property.
They began "yelling and crying" at which point they were approached by a man who threatened the couple with a gun.
"We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life," he added.
Despite these claims, local police have said it has not found any evidence that the shooting was a hate crime.
The department added: "Should any new evidence come to light, we will charge the suspect accordingly."
A 56-year-old man, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, has already been charged with murder.
