King Charles has allegedly taken yet another step in distancing himself from his disgraced brother Prince Andrew.
Royal journalist Robert Hardman has claimed in his new book that the monarch has withdrawn Andrew's £1 million 'living allowance'.
Hardman's book, which is being serialised in the Daily Mail, claims that Andrew's allowance was 'severed' after he reportedly refused to move out of his residence in Windsor Great Park near Frogmore Cottage.
The 64-year-old is resident at Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion, and had a 75-year lease on the home since 2003.
It was previously reported that the King axed Andrew's private security for the home after he lost publicly-funded police protection in 2022 following allegations of sexual abuse.
It was speculated that this meant he may have to vacate the home from November.
“It isn’t a secret that the King wants him out," a source told The Sun on Sunday.
However, the latest report claims that the King has now repealed all financial support from his brother.
Hardman's book reads: "'The duke is no longer a financial burden on the King,' confirms one familiar with the situation.
"'He claims to have found other sources of income related to his contacts in international trade, sufficient to cover all his costs – which would be a welcome outcome for all parties if that turns out to be the case.
"'But as to whether this funding can be relied upon in the long term is another matter.'"
The terms of Andrew's lease on Royal Lodge mean that if he can pay his own way, he can remain at the property until 2078, per BBC.
There have been suggestions that the prince could downsize to Prince Harry and Meghan's former home Frogmore Cottage. This would incur lower ongoing costs than the 30-room home he currently resides in.
Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story by Robert Hardman releases on November 7.
