Johnson said he ‘would rather let bodies pile high’ than impose new lockdown, reports claim

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has allegedly said that he would rather see "bodies pile high in their thousands" than impose another national lockdown, it has been reported. Sources told the Daily Mail that the PM made the remark after he reluctantly ordered the second national lockdown in October 2020. Last night, Downing Street strongly denied the claims that Johnson made the explosive comments, saying that it was "just another lie." However, the Daily Mail said that the sources continue to back their claim. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has also denied the PM made the comments, saying; "It’s not true, it’s been categorically denied by practically everyone. "We’re getting into the comedy chapter now of these gossip stories - unnamed sources by unnamed advisors talking about unnamed events. “None of this is serious," he added.  "The PM has been utterly focused on delivering alongside Cabinet colleagues the response to Covid." Despite agreeing to new restrictions, the PM's frustration is said to have reached a climax after the important meeting at No 10 in October last year. During the meeting, Johnson allegedly said: "No more ****ing lockdowns – let the bodies pile high in their thousands!" Cummings also alleged in his blog that the the PM once had an "unethical" and "possibly illegal" plan for Tory donors to cover the costs of his No.11 Downing Street refurbishment.
