Joe Biden has issued an emotional statement after being diagnosed with an 'aggressive' form of cancer.
The personal office of the former US President announced yesterday that the 82-year-old had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The statement read: "Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.
"On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone," it added.
"While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians."
The 46th President of the US took to X today, Monday, to share an emotional update.
"Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places."
"Thank you for lifting us up with love and support."
Just days before his diagnosis was revealed, his spokesperson told ABC News that 'a small nodule was found in the prostate which necessitated further evaluation' during a routine physical exam.
US President Donald Trump reacted to the news on Truth Social, saying he was 'saddened' by the diagnosis.
"Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis.
"We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."
