Jeremy Clarkson has made a shoplifter caught on his Diddly Squat farm shop CCTV go viral.
The former Top Gear host shared footage of the suspected thief in the store on Tuesday, telling his followers "this man came 'shopping' at the farm shop." He added that he would "like to meet the cu (sic)."
The video, which has received over 180,000 likes, shows a man, dressed in a black long-sleeve top, gilet and cap, taking a bottle of alcohol from the top shelf before sliding it into his jacket pocket at the Cotswolds-based store the TV star opened in 2020.
He then conceals another item from a nearby basket in his coat before strolling around the store, pretending to examine other items, as another man stands at the till.
Police said the two men left the premises in the same car.
While one went to the counter and paid for £69 worth of goods, the other swiped two bottles of alcohol and another unknown item, worth around £80.
The duo entered the store around 4.15pm on Tuesday, and after the incident, left in the direction of Burford, West Oxfordshire.
One person wrote on the post: "When you steal from someone who has 6.7 million followers and get caught on camera."
Another felt sorry for Clarkson, who is worth tens of millions, writing: "Sorry this has happened to you, awful thing to do to an independent business. Hope the power of social media finds him."
A third wrote: "What a nob! Not only for stealing the items, but to do it in the shop of someone who has a huge social media following and main stream media presence... you’ve got to be a bit thick as well."
'Two men entered the shop after arriving in the same vehicle. One went to the till and bought £69-worth of goods while the other stole two bottles of alcohol and another unknown item, worth around £80.
"Both men then left the shop, got back in the vehicle and drove off in the direction of Burford."
