A woman from Brazil has claimed she has lost her career after refusing to give up her seat for a crying child.
Jennifer Castro was asked to give up her pre-booked window seat to a child who was crying as he wanted to look outside.
At the time, the incident garnered widespread attention, landing her two million followers overnight and hundreds of brand deals.
People were left stunned by her reply as she refused to give in to the pressure of a child wanting her seat.
Another passenger filmed the entire ordeal and the video went viral at the time but now she says she does not get regular jobs as people recognise her from the incident.
She said: "You have all kinds of people in this world. It's sad actually. My whole life is upside down and even today, I'm getting the worst backlash."
For this reason, she claims she cannot continue with her career as a banker.
However, it is not clear whether she was fired from her job or if she chose to quit personally. Either way, she is now suing the airline for it.
The 29-year-old is taking legal action against GOL Airlines and the passenger who filmed her during the incident.
She is seeking compensation for the distress and damage caused by the incident. She explained that her decision to file the lawsuit is to prevent similar instances of public shaming in the future.
She said: "What should have been just an ordinary flight turned into an extremely embarrassing situation, exposing me unfairly and causing consequences that affected both my personal and professional life.
"I was the target of judgments, attacks, and speculation from people who don't even know the full story."
