The heartbreaking final words of a hero dad who helped his family escape the floods in Texas have been shared by his family.
The death toll in the devastating floods in Texas has continued to rise to 68 people as searches continue for the missing.
Heavy rain hit on Friday when flash floods reportedly brought four months worth of rain in just a few hours as per Fox News.
This heavy rainfall caused the nearby Guadalupe River to swell massively, rising by around eight metres in less than an hour on Friday.
One family that have been hit hard by the floods are that of Julian Ryan, 27, fiancé and father who saved his family at the cost of his own life.
The father of three told his family, “I’m sorry, I’m not going to make it. I love y’all."
Ryan’s fiancée, Christina Wilson, explained how she and her family had been sleeping when the water in their home rose to knee-level in "20 minutes".
She said: "We ran back into the room and we started calling 911, but the water just kept coming. We had no choice but to get out."
Desperately trying to save his young family, Ryan punched through a window to provide an escape route onto the roof, however he tragically sliced open his arm while doing so.
He severed an artery and quickly began losing blood.
Sadly emergency services could not reach the family in time to save Ryan, and he died of his injuries hours later.
Wilson said: "He looked at me, the kids, and his mother and said, 'I’m sorry, I’m not going to make it. I love y’all.'"
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family in the tragedy that can be viewed here.
Search and rescue efforts continue in the region after an all-girls Christian summer camp located at 'Camp Mystic' was hit particularly badly by the flood.
Eleven Camp Mystic campers and one councillor remain unaccounted for.
