An innocent teenage girl was shot at twelve times after being chased by a group of men who say they thought she was stalking them.
KayLee Dutton, who was 17, died near Cedar City, Utah, when Ethan Galloway, 23, fired into her car on Friday night.
At least one of the bullets hit Dutton who then crashed her red truck into a fence.
She was dead upon arrival at Cedar City Hospital, reports the Daily Mail.
Galloway was arrested with Michael Edward Hess-Witucki, 23, who was driving their car. They were both charged with second-degree murder as well as drug and firearm crimes.
The pair admitted their roles in Dutton's death and Galloway shared a letter he wrote to her family explaining his decisions.
Iron County Sheriff Ken Carpenter explained: "Their justification for chasing the victim's vehicle was they believed they had previously observed the victim's vehicle in their neighborhood and presumed the occupants of the victim's vehicle were (stalking) them.
"At the conclusion of the interview, Ethan wrote a letter of apology to the parents of the victim, describing the reasoning why he chased the victim's vehicle and shot the victim-driver."
Galloway and Hess-Witucki allegedly saw Dutton's car near their home and decided to chase after it.
Dutton and her friend saw the truck following them and tried to escape but after six miles the truck pulled alongside them and sprayed their vehicle with bullets.
A SWAT team arrested Galloway and Hess-Witucki the following afternoon.
Matthew Sorber-Petrie and Aldric Felipe were arrested shortly after on drug, firearm, and obstruction crimes.
Galloway and Hess-Witucki were charged with second-degree murder, 12 counts of felony discharging of a firearm causing serious injury, obstruction of justice, drug possession, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
Sorber-Petrie and Felipe were charged with obstruction of justice, drug possession, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
