While an expert warned that the UK is already in conflict with Russia

Germany might enter war with Russia again and it is preparing for a potential attack, a German general has warned.

According to one of Germany’s highest-ranking generals, the country might face a Russian attack within the next two to three years.

Speaking for The Times, the head of the German armed forces support command, Lieutenant General Gerald Funke, said that his biggest concern is Russian “hybrid warfare”.

“What worries me … at the moment is the hybrid side, the covert side: sabotage, sleeper cells, some kind of targeted attacks”, Funke said.

“I can’t rule out the use of long-range missiles. But I think the hybrid threat is very high”, he added.

The German general is one of the several top defence officials to warn over mounting threat from Russia.

Just one month ago, each of the 32 NATO member countries, including the UK, were warned to prepare for a war on a scale “our grandparents and great-grandparents endured”.

The NATO allies were urged by its chief, Mark Rutte, to step up their defence efforts to prevent a war waged by Russia.

“We are Russia’s next target. I fear that too many are quietly complacent”, he warned in December.

While another expert has warned that Britain is already in conflict with Russia, and has been “for years”, but isn’t willing to admit it.

“Because if you simply call it war, that means you have to do something about it.”
